Statesmen Finish 10th at Columbia 300 Shootout
Indianapolis, Ind.–The William Penn women’s bowling team competed in the Columbia 300 shootout over the weekend, taking home a 10th place finish among 22 teams.
Leading the way for the women’s varsity was Shadyn Bishop (So., Grandview, Iowa, Exercise Science) in 72nd, who only bowled five of the six games but averaged 177.8 pins per game, good for a total of 889. Close behind her was Haylee Schwark (So., Beaver Dam, Wis., Psychology and Sociology), who knocked down 816 pins in her five games of play.
Despite only bowling four games, Caitlin Radliff (Fr., Belleville, Ill., Software Engineering) finished in the top 100, totaling 775 pins in her four games for an average of 193.8, the highest average on the team for the tournament. Madison Ross (Jr., Charles City, Iowa, Exercise Science), who also only bowled four games, averaged 189 across her four games for a total count of 756.
Gabi Evans (Jr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology) and Alexis Lake (Jr., Kaysville, Utah, Nursing) finished 121st and 122nd, as Evans knocked down 649 pins in her four games and Lake totaled 647.
The Statesmen entered the rounds of Baker play in ninth place, but some streaky Baker rounds ultimately dropped them one spot, still securing a top 10 finish in the tournament.
What’s Next: The Statesmen will have two weeks to rest up before traveling to Cedar Rapids for the Five Seasons Classic on October 30th and 31st.
