Oskaloosa–The William Penn women’s golf team will use a slight snub by the national voters as extra motivation for the cold winter months as it dropped a handful of spots in the NAIA’s second top-25 poll which was released Friday.

WPU fell from a program-best ninth down to #14 with 293 points. The squad won four tournaments this fall and was in the top 10 at last month’s NAIA Preview.

The Statesmen are joined in the rating by fellow Heart of America Athletic Conference foe Mount Mercy at #33.

Keiser (Fla.) will enter the midseason at #1 with 529 points and 18 first-place votes, while SCAD Savannah (Ga.) is second. William Carey (Miss.), with the final first-place nod, is third, while Dalton State (Ga.) and Cumberlands (Ky.) round out the top five.
