Speaker Teri Jendusa Nicolai at Central College March 22

PELLA — Domestic violence survivor Teri Jendusa Nicolai will speak at Central College Tuesday, March 22, in Graham Conference Center at 7:30 p.m. The event, sponsored by student activities, residence life, intercultural life, health services, counseling services, Campus Activities Board, Greek council and Pod 112, the sexual and domestic violence awareness pod, is free and open to the public.

In 2004, Nicolai’s husband beat her with a baseball bat, stuffed her in a garbage can and left her in a storage locker outside of Milwaukee, Wis., to die. She survived and now shares her story at schools throughout the country, outlining risk factors associated with abusive relationships and empowering audiences to seek love and respect in healthy relationships. A leading awareness speaker, she has shared her story on Oprah and ABC’s 20/20.
