Southeast Iowa Woman Wins Lottery Prize Of More Than $88,000
Becky Flesner Claims Big Prize in ‘Extreme Green Progressive’ GameCLIVE, Iowa — An Oskaloosa woman will soon be in the fourth row of a classic rock concert, thanks to a big lottery prize.
“I bought tickets to go see REO Speedwagon Friday night,” said Becky Flesner.
Flesner said that was her first big purchase after winning the “Extreme Green Progressive” InstaPlay jackpot of $88,894. She bought her winning ticket at Hy-Vee, 110 S. D St. in Oskaloosa, and claimed her prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Clive.
While Flesner, 58, is using some of her winnings to have fun, she said the majority of it will go into her savings account. She plans to retire in a few years from her job at a fire hydrant manufacturing company, and said the money will provide her with more financial security.
“I’m going to put it in the bank and that’s where it’s going to stay,” Flesner said. “I’m not going to blow it. Just keep it there and use it for what we need it for.”
InstaPlay games combine features from instant-scratch and lotto games. InstaPlay tickets are called “scratchless” because they have no security coating that needs to be removed to determine the prize won. And rather than having supplies of tickets printed in advance like those in traditional scratch and pull-tab games, InstaPlay tickets are printed on demand from the lottery terminal.
InstaPlay games range in price from $1 to $30. For more information, visit ialottery.com.
