Fulton, Mo.–The William Penn men’s golf team posted two strong scores as it recorded another high finish at the William Woods Invitational Monday.

William Penn was fourth out 10 squads with a two-round score of 590 (295-295) at the par-72 Tanglewood Golf Course. Host William Woods, which is ranked #7 in the NAIA, held off Columbia (Mo.) by one stroke with a winning tally of 567 (285-282). Columbia is also receiving votes nationally.

With poor weathered forecasted for Tuesday, the coaches agreed to play both rounds on Monday. Doubling up the action did not slow down the field as six linksters shot even par or better, including medalist Jack Clarkson of WWU posting a six-under 138 (68-70).

Zachary Chegwidden (So., Essex, England, Business Management) broke par three times last week and added another red score Monday with an opening-round 69. He followed up that score with a 72 to finish fifth out of 56 players at three-under 141.

Sebastian Rulis (Sr., Helsingor, Denmark, Business Management) also managed a top-20 effort, tying for 14th at 147 (74-73), while Frederik Lundsgaard (Sr., Jebjerg, Denmark, History/Government) was just outside that group. The senior tied for 22nd at 150 (76-74).

Zach Swink (Sr., Burlington, Iowa, Sociology) placed 35th with a tally of 156 (76-80), and Peter Frederiksen (Sr., Hornslet, Denmark, Mechanical Engineering) tied for 36th at 158 (82-76).

Jordan Albert (So., Sigourney, Iowa, Biology), competing as an individual, tied for 41st with a score of 161 (83-78).

Next Up: William Penn travels to Silvis, Ill. next Monday and Tuesday to compete in the NAIA Preview. Play will be contested at TPC Deere Run Golf Course.
