Softball Up to #31 in Second Poll

William Penn Women's Athletics

Oskaloosa–The ladies of the diamond played just once last week, but by defeating a conference foe, Penn leapt a few spots in the national standings as the NAIA’s second softball poll was released today.

Penn (16-6, 1-0 MCC) is unofficially 31st with 29 points. The Lady Statesmen dropped St. Ambrose 4-1 last Tuesday, the same day that last week’s ranking was announced.

California Baptist retains its top spot for the third week in a row and now has 684 points and all 24 first-place votes. William Carey (Miss.), Concordia (Calif.), Cal State-San Marcos, and Brenau (Ga.) round out the top five.

Morningside is the only other team from the state of Iowa receiving votes. The Mustangs are unofficially 37th with eight points.

Penn is back in action Wednesday, hosting Mount Mercy in an MCC doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
