Six Ranked in League, Two Nationally
Oskaloosa–The Statesmen men’s wrestling team has six grapplers ranked within its conference and two nationally as the NAIA released its fifth set of polls this week.
As a team, William Penn is 42nd in the nation with 13 points. Leading the charge is 165-pounder Cameron Hargrove (Jr., Bolingbrook, Ill., Sports Management) who is rated at #18, while 157-pounder Kael Bunce (Sr., Stockbridge, Mich., Mechanical Engineering) is 23rd in the country.
Grand View leads the standings with 273 points, while Life (Ga.) is right on its heels with 271 points. Menlo (Calif.) (190), Southeastern (Fla.) (171), and Campbellsville (Ky.) (170) round out the top five.
With six individuals ranked, WPU currently sits in seventh place in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with 74 points. Grand View is first with 228 points.
Hargrove is guiding the grouping in second place, while Bunce is third in his weight class. 133-pounder Lane Scorpil (So., Columbus Junction, Iowa, Industrial Technology) is fourth, while Ryan Van Donselaar (Jr., Otley, Iowa, Exercise Science) gives the Statesmen two ranked wrestlers at 165 pounds as he is sixth.
174-pounder Branson Bottorff (Sr., Mackinaw, Ill., Industrial Technology) is also sixth, and 285-pounder Isaac Boucher (Jr., Kalona, Iowa, Nursing) wraps up the list in eighth.
