Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the August-September Player of the Month laurels.

Graduate football player Ben Sherman (Troy, Pa., Master’s of Sports Management) earned the Male award, while freshman shotgun sports athlete Raylee Bishop (Ankeny, Iowa, Engineering Technology) claimed the Female honor. The accolade is the second for Sherman and the first for Bishop.

In five games, Sherman rushed 99 times for 542 yards (5.5 yards per carry, 108.4 yards per game). He scored nine touchdowns and had a top game of 204 yards and two scores against MidAmerica Nazarene. The graduate student also picked up 130 yards and a trio of TDs versus Missouri Valley.

Bishop won a pair of Female High Overall Athlete awards in the three events in which William Penn competed. She was 283-for-300 and 141-for-200 in her two championship efforts. Her efforts led to the Statesmen winning two tournament crowns.
