Oskaloosa–A pair of Statesmen women’s basketball players were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2018-2019 Daktronics-NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athletes Monday.

Jenna Santi (Sr., Oak Creek, Wis., Sports Management) earned her second career laurel with a 3.90 Grade Point Average, while Kate Ylitalo (Jr., Maple Plain, Minn., Biology) notched her first recognition with a 3.75 GPA.

A total of 148 women’s basketball players from within the NAIA’s Division I were awarded the laurel.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
