Ruth Irene Braden, 91, of Newaygo, Michigan, and a former resident of Oskaloosa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 5, 2015. She had been residing at her daughter’s home.
Ruth was born in Keokuk County, IA, near What Cheer on Sept. 4, 1923 to Henry and Ethel (DeVier) Inman.

Ruth was a graduate of Sigourney High School and worked at the overall factory in Oskaloosa during World War II. She also did waitressing work at both the Canary Cottage and Neiswanger’s Café.

In 1944, Ruth married the love her life, Willard Braden. They lived in Barnes City for a period of time, then moved to Oskaloosa and raised their four children. During this time Ruth went to work at William Penn, in the Student Commons area. She worked there for 24 years before retiring and enjoying her grandchildren. After 67 wonderful years of marriage, Willard passed away in 2011.

Ruth was a loving, caring, Christian woman, who was devoted to her family. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and over the years served as a Sunday School Teacher, Communion Steward, and worked with the after school program.

Ruth enjoyed tending her flowers, watching the birds, and being with her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and delighted in teasing and being teased by her care givers.

Ruth is survived by her children; Janet (& Stanley) Fisher of Newaygo, MI, Dale (& Cindy) Braden of University Park, Rodger Braden of Eddyville, and Wayne (& Janet) Braden of Beacon; 12 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Logue; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Alice Braden; sisters: Ruby Sarvis and Rose Braden; and a brother, Reed Inman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9, at 11:00 at the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, with Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Lunch will be in the Church basement following the funeral service.
Interment will be made in the Barnes City Cemetery after the luncheon.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 Monday, February 9, at the Central United Methodist Church and last until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church or to the family for a special memorial in her name.
