Royce Dean Foster, age 60, of Albia, IA, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
Royce was born on August 12, 1961, to Richard “Dick” Royce and Betty Louise (Benson) Foster in Albia, IA.

Royce grew up attending school in Albia and graduated from the Albia High School with the Class of 1979.

Following school, Royce served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

While in high school, Royce worked at the Albia sale barn. He worked at Iowa Aluminum for 17 years, working in various positions during his career there, retiring in 2020.

Royce enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He loved his dogs, Piper, Phoenix, and Dixie. Royce had a great sense of humor, was ornery, and enjoyed telling jokes. He was very proud of having served his country. Above all else, Royce enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Royce is survived by his wife, Melissa Griebel-Foster; 3 children: Austin (& Ale) Hudson, Haley (& Katlynn) Hudson, and Maya (& Elijah) Griebel; and his mother; Betty Foster. Royce is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Royce is preceded in death by his father, Dick Foster; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Per Royce’s wishes, his body has been cremated.
A private family graveside service will be held in the spring at Oak View Cemetery in Albia, with military honors provided by the American Legion of Albia, Melrose, and Lovilia.
