Robert Gosselink

Robert Gosselink, 81 of Grinnell passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon and continue from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Grinnell United Methodist Church with the family present. Interment will be held in the Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pfitsch Fishes of Grinnell College Water Aerobics or the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

Robert Wayne Gosselink, son of Edward and Gertrude (Ver Steegh) Gosselink was born on January 2, 1929 in Mahaska County. Bob was a 1946 graduate of New Sharon High School. On February 11, 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Norma Castner in Oskaloosa. To this union two children were born, Craig and Cynthia. Bob worked for the elevator in New Sharon before moving to Oskaloosa in 1954 and began farming. In 1957, Bob and Norma moved to a farm near Lynnville and farmed with his brother. Bob farmed and drove truck for Arie Van Weeldon and Lynnville Transport until his health made him retire in 2003. Bob enjoyed square dancing, teaching western style round dance, bowling and above all spending time with his friends in the coffee shops. He was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Gosselink of Grinnell; his grandchildren, Lacie (Ronnie) Dykstra of Newton and Craig (Kari) Gosselink of Grinnell; six great grandchildren, Chase Dykstra, Kaiden Gosselink, Lance Dykstra, Dalton Gosselink, Collin Dykstra and Terran Gosselink; two sisters, Ruby DeYoung of New Sharon and Marilyn (Wendell) Schultz of Fremont; two brothers, Russell Gosselink of Grinnell and Lester Gosselink of Montezuma and a Daughter-in-law, Pat Gosselink of Grinnell.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gertrude Gosselink; a son, Craig Gosselink, May 29, 2008; a daughter, Cynthia Gosselink, May 15, 1995; two brothers, Donald Gosselink and Harold Gosselink and one sister, Donna DeJong.
