Penn Central Mall Plays Host To 5th Annual Kidtoberfest
Cliffard was on hand at the 5th annual Kidtoberfest at Penn Central Mall in Oskaloosa
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Kids and parents filled Penn Central Mall on Saturday starting at 10:00 am. There were exhibits from Blank Park Zoo, The Science Center of Iowa, and the ISU Insect Zoo.
The free event also featured inflatables and carnival games that kept the kids and parents busy while Clifford roamed the crowd. Herky the Hawkeye was scheduled to be there from noon to 1 pm, as was Cy from ISU.
Amy Ver Meer-Brainard of the ISU Extension Office in Oskaloosa said of the apparent strong turnout on Saturday, “Usually when it’s good weather, we don’t have a very good turnout so we were a little worried.”
The amount of vendors at this year’s event was an indication that Kidtoberfest continues to grow every year. 38 vendors set up at this years event, up from previous years.
One of those vendors was the Oskaloosa Lions Club. With the assistance of the Fremont Lions Club, they held eye screening for preschool children during the Kidtoberfest celebration at Penn Central Mall. Also on hand was Mahaska Health Partnership.
