Oskaloosa Rotary’s Rescheduled ‘Pedal For Polio’ Set For Saturday

Pedal For Polio

Pedal For Polio

Rotary, like many other events, postponed their Pedal for Polio event from last Saturday to upcoming Saturday, May 11. Registration will begin at 8 am and the ride will begin at 9 am on May 11.

Registration will occur at the Rotary Gateway Gazebo. Registration for individuals is $15, and for families is $25. Proceeds will go to Rotary International who are working to wipe polio from the face of the earth by providing the polio vaccine ‘drops’ to children in Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Pakistan. The vaccine/drops cost 60 cents per child. Fewer than 1700 cases were reported in 2009 so we are very close to ending polio.

Funds raised will be matched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Rotary International goal is to raise $200 million to help end polio.
