Oskaloosa News Print Edition Being Phased Out

Oskaloosa News print edition.

But a new way of getting the news is just around the corner.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – December 1, 2019 – As you read this, plans are underway to wrap up our print edition, with the final copy being the December 31st, 2019 edition, which will be our year in review.

The decision to end the print edition was both difficult and easy.

We made money with the print edition of Oskaloosa News, and many folks have told us they have enjoyed it. Those factors sure made it difficult to come to this decision.

Sundays are often 22 hour days, as we work to layout the print, do edits, and place photos. A second day of the week is another 8 hours that are devoted to the print.

Some may know that I struggle with vision issues, and that also played a factor in our decision to end the print edition. The software that is used to put the paper together isn’t very friendly to those with vision issues and has become a bigger challenge to work with.

The easy part of the decision was the desire to find more time off, and spend some of that with our grandkids, who are growing up so very fast.

For those who have subscriptions that go past December 31st, 2019, you will be receiving a refund for the unused portion of your subscription in the coming days.

We aren’t leaving the news business at all, we will continue offering news and sports on our website www.oskynews.org, which is where it all started, and by far remains the largest audience for Oskaloosa News.

We are developing a live show that will be broadcast on our social media channels. We plan to offer interviews with community groups, individuals, government entities, and more. It will feature news, sports, weather, and community calendar segments that will run several times during that hour to help keep you on the go.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 641.295.8455, email us at info@oskynews.org, or stop by our office and studio inside of Penn Central Mall.
