Oskaloosa JV Boys Basketball Takes On Pella Christian
by Jakob Hasley
The JV basketball team was in action against a very hot-shooting Pella Christian squad on Friday night. Early in the game, it was all Indians, as they took advantage of some eagle turnovers. They would come out of the first quarter with an 8-point lead. The second quarter was a flip of the script for the Eagles as they were able to force turnovers and make the Indians pay for those by shooting lights out from three-point range. The Indians were resilient, however, as they fought back to regain a two point lead with just thirteen seconds on the clock. They were also able to force a late turnover to gain possession of the ball. The Indians would execute the inbound perfectly but, unfortunately, had a costly turnover. The eagles moved the ball around the arc, found an open man, and he hit a buzzer-beater three-point basket to secure the 47-46victory for the Eagles.
As their coach, I am proud of the way they were able to fight back into the game and stay together to be in that position, but we will work on more situations like this in the future so that the outcome will be in the Indian’s favor. The JV Indians will get another opportunity to get better, as they will take on Indianola in another tough road test on Friday, December 9th
