Oskaloosa Indian Football Finishes Home Game Play With Win

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The New Community Stadium at the Lacey Complex played host to its’ final Indian home game of the regular season Friday night when Oskaloosa took on Fort Madison.
Coach Mark Schilb commented on the teams strong performace, “I thought we did what we were suppose to do on paper. You know, they [Fort Madison] haven’t had a great season. They were competing with us a little bit. Their offense is pretty tough. They go unbalanced. A lot of motion.”
Schilb continued. “Our kids settled down. I thought our coaches did an awesome job at half-time. Our defense really asserted itself at the beginning of the second half. Offensively we tried to throw a little bit more, tried to open it up a little bit more.”
Schilb went on to say they need to continue working on their passing game, “so down the road we can go to that a little bit more.”
Recently, the team hasn’t suffered as many injuries and knee problems as earlier in the season. “We bought 15 pairs of knee braces. I don’t know if that helps, but for a while there it was one knee a game, and that’s tough. I think that was 4 or 5 straight weeks.”
The Indians poured on 42 points in the first half making the score at half-time 42-0 in favor of the Indians.
With 11:13 on the clock in the first quarter, Adam Rowley took off left for a 56 yard TD run, and with the boot from Tristan Cook, the score was 7-0.
Rowley once again ran left for a 17 yard TD run with 4:23 on the clock. Cook sent it in for the PAT but it fell no good, and the Indians were ahead 13-0.
The Indians final score of the first quarter was on an 8 yard rush by Rowley to the right for the TD. Rowley finished off the scoring drive by running the PAT in making the score 21-0 Indians at 1:12 on the game clock in the first quarter.
The second half saw Drew Richmond drawing the first score for the Indians with a 29 yard reception from Tyler Hafner for the TD. Cook was back to kick the extra point making it 28-0 with 10:40 in the second quarter.
Austin Redlich snagged a 52 yard Adam Rowley TD pass for the Indians with 7:46 on the game clock in the second quarter. The Cook PAT was good and the Indians were now ahead 35-0.
Adam Rowley finished off the final Indian score of the first half with a 52 yard TD rush. Cook once again booted it in for the PAT and the Indians were on top of the Bloodhounds 42-0 with 1:30 remaining in the first half.
The 35 point rule was in effect, and the game moved along quickly at that point.
There was no score during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter saw only one touchdown with an Andrew Landgrebe run to the right for 43 yards and the TD. Cook’s PAT was good and the Indians were ahead 49-0 with 3:39 remaining in the fourth quarter.
