Oskaloosa Girls Track & Field Shines at Pella Dutch Relays, Eyes District Meet

OSKALOOSA, IA – The Oskaloosa Girls Track and Field team showcased their talent on Monday night at their home track, Lacey Stadium, as they hosted the Pella Dutch Relays. The team put in a solid effort to finish fourth in the overall standings, with standout performances from individual champions and athletes setting personal records.
Individual Champions:

Ryleigh Wilken claimed the high jump title, while Hannah Quang secured first place in the 100m hurdles, demonstrating her resilience as she continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Second Place Finishes:

Tierney Carter grabbed second place in the 400m dash, and Evelyn Adam followed suit in the 400m hurdles.
The Distance Medley Relay team of McCain, Phillips, Adam, and Wells-Stout also delivered a stellar performance to secure the runner-up position.

Personal Records:

Several team members rose to the occasion and achieved personal bests:

Sarah Phillips and Lily Bonnett set new personal records in the long jump.
Ana Musteric recorded a personal best in the shot put.
Emmalee Wells-Stout excelled in her 800m split in the Distance Medley Relay.

District Meet Ahead

The team will now focus on the District meet at Solon on Thursday, May 9, where they will compete against seven other teams: Benton Community, Central DeWitt, Maquoketa, Marion, Solon, Williamsburg, and Xavier (Cedar Rapids). The top two finishers in each of the eight Class 3A districts, along with the next eight fastest times or best distances, will qualify for the state meet.

Head Coach Betsy Luck remains optimistic about the team’s chances, saying, “We’re incredibly proud of our athletes for their dedication and effort. We’re ready to take on the challenge at Solon and aim for state qualifications.”
