Oskaloosa Girls Track and Field Shines at Norwalk Meet

The Oskaloosa girls track and field team, led by Coach Betsy Luck, delivered a standout performance at the Norwalk meet, bringing home four first-place finishes while setting five personal records.

“The girls create the lineup, trying new events and having some fun!” Coach Betsy Luck said, reflecting the relaxed and exploratory nature of the meet.

Among the first-place finishers was Ryleigh Wilken, who secured victories in the high jump and the 400-meter dash. Wilken’s time in the 400 meters also marked a personal record.

Tierney Carter claimed victory in the 400-meter hurdles, while the 4×800 meter relay team of Tierney Carter, Emmalee Wells-Stout, Lilly Blommers, and Addison McCain also captured first place.

Five personal records were set by the following athletes:

Ryleigh Wilken in the 400-meter dash
Claire McKee in the 100-meter dash
Sarah Phillips in the 100-meter hurdles
Emmalee Wells-Stout with improved split times in the 4×800 meter relay and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay

The team will now focus on their final regular-season meet on Monday at the Pella Dutch Co-ed Relays, hosted in Oskaloosa. Field events will start at 4:30 p.m., with running events beginning at 4:45 p.m.

Next Thursday, the team heads to Solon for the District meet, which will serve as a state qualifier.
