Oskaloosa Girls Track and Field Shine at Iowa State Meet

Tierney Carter was a standout, racing to a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.663 seconds. Carter also excelled in the 800-meter run, achieving a personal record of 2:22.57, which propelled her to third place on the school’s All-Time Top 10 list. Her dual performances showcased her versatility and determination on the track.
In the high jump, Ryleigh Wilken cleared 5 feet 2 inches, earning an 11th-place finish. Wilken’s strong showing added valuable points to the team’s overall score.
The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team, composed of Sadie Blommers, Lydia Van Veldhuizen, Emmalee Wells-Stout, and Hannah Quang, finished 18th, demonstrating teamwork and resilience. Evelyn Adam competed in the 400-meter hurdles, securing 19th place, while Hannah Quang finished 20th in the 100-meter hurdles.
The 4×400 relay team, consisting of Wilken, Wells-Stout, Adam, and Carter, set a new season-best time, finishing in 20th place. Additionally, Emmalee Wells-Stout completed the 400-meter hurdles in 22nd place.
Coach Betsy Luck expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishments, highlighting the dedication and hard work of all the athletes. She noted the significant contributions of the three state-qualifying seniors, Evelyn Adam, Hannah Quang, and Lydia Van Veldhuizen, whose leadership will be greatly missed next year.
