Oskaloosa Enjoys ‘Turkey Roll’ While Raising Funds For Good Causes

Oskaloosa, Iowa – With many smiles and just as many laughs, Oskaloosa residents and businesses helped Imagine the Possibilities and Christian Opportunity Center celebrate their 1st Annual ‘Ten Pin Turkey Roll’ November 4th.

“We have partnered together for years”, Jeff Morris Executive Director of Imagine the Possibilities said on the relationship between two organizations for the past 22 years. “But that 22 years we have partnered together to kind-of the same population.”

Imagine the Possibilities focuses on residential services, group homes and serving people in their homes and making living possible, Morris explained as to the purpose for that group to those who need the assistance.

Christian Opportunity Center provides a vocational aspect, explains Morris. “Together, we work together to serve the same population”.

The ‘Turkey Roll’ was the first time the two groups have come together like this, and Morris says they are excited about more collaboration.

Morris said he hoped the event would raise awareness and gain a new appreciation and understanding of what the organizations do. “It’s hard for us not to try to raise money at the same time, because we’re non-profits; this is what we do”.

With the current economy, gaps in budgets can be a problem for groups such as his, and they are limited in ways and what kinds of things they can do.

The funds raised will go to help enrich the clients lives in many ways; such as for a camp, or to help meet an emergency need in someone’s life.

So starting at 6:30, the pins started flying and the laughs filled Mahaska Bowl. Businesses sponsored lanes and everyone helped to sponsor residents so they, as well, could enjoy the evening. But the memories will last far into the future.
