Oskaloosa, Iowa – Join the Oskaloosa City Band on Thursday at 8 p.m. on the city square as they play a Patriotic concert to celebrate our nation’s independence. The band will play several patriotic marches, including: “Washington Post” by John Phillips Sousa, “Americans We” by Henry Fillmore, and “Miss Liberty” by Karl King. Each military branch will be honored and represented in “Armed Forces Medley”.

The trumpet section will be featured in “Bugler’s Holiday” and the saxophone section will be featured in Billy Joel’s “Rootbeer Rag”.

For the young at heart, the band will play a medley of “Disney Blockbusters”, including songs from “The Little Mermaid, “Beauty and the Beast”, and “Aladdin”.

The band’s new tradition of playing a fiery overture based on a western theme, leads to the playing of a tune from a John Wayne movie, “The Cowboys”.

If the forecast is correct, this week’s concert temperature may be close to 30 degrees warmer than last week. Join some friends and find a cool shade tree as you listen to this week’s concert. In the event of inclement weather, the band invites you to listen in the cool and dry confines of Smokey Row Coffee House.
