Nwagbaraocha’s Big Night Nets Weekly Accolade

Oskaloosa–Vashti Nwagbaraocha (Sr., Milwaukee, Wis., Exercise Science) headlined a huge team win last week, and for her efforts she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.

Nwagbaraocha picked up her fifth career laurel (third this year) as she led William Penn to an 80-62 win over #6 MidAmerica Nazarene last Saturday. The win helped the Statesmen claim the outright lead in the Heart standings entering the home stretch of the season.

In the victory, the senior scored 29 points on 10-for-14 shooting; she was also 9-for-11 at the free-throw line. She pulled down eight rebounds in addition to two assists and two steals.

For the season, Nwagbaraocha is nearly averaging a double-double with 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest. She also has 46 assists, 45 steals, and 32 blocks. The forward is shooting 57.0% from the field and 82.0% from the stripe.

Nwagbaraocha leads the Heart in points per game and field-goal percentage, is third in free-throw percentage, rebounds per game, and blocks per game (1.4), and is fifth in steals per game (2.0).

The award is the third for WPU this year.
