NAIA Releases Second MRPI Soccer Indexes

Oskaloosa–The raters already believe it and now the computers have proven it. The Statesmen men’s soccer team is among the top programs in the nation as the NAIA’s second Modified Ratings Percentage Indexes were released Wednesday.

The men (13-3, 8-1 Heart) are ranked 18th out of 199 teams with a mark of .6113. The squad sits second in the Heart of America Athletic Conference behind only #5 Central Methodist (.84375), which is ranked #1 in the coaches’ poll.

It is the highest MRPI ranking in program history. The indexes take into consideration the coaches’ poll and the teams’ strength of schedule.

The top five in the men’s MRPI rating is Columbia (Mo.), Westmont (Calif.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), William Carey (Miss.), and Central Methodist.

The women (6-10, 1-8 Heart) are 122nd out of 204 teams at .38184. The NAIA’s top five is William Carey (Miss.), Keiser (Fla.), Northwestern Ohio, Southeastern (Fla.), and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.). Central Methodist leads all Heart schools at #6.

The final MRPI will be released on November 15 and will be used to determine the participating schools in the NAIA National Championships.
