Mary Job, 88, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Mary was born November 13, 1931, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Roy and Erma Myers Ellis.

Mary graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1950. She furthered her education at William Penn College (now William Penn University) earning her degree in Elementary Education.

On June 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Don F. Job, at Spencer Chapel on the William Penn Campus. To this union two children were born, Kathleen and Stephen. Don died on January 27, 2017.

In 1971, Mary started teaching Title 1 Reading at the Oskaloosa Christian School and later at Grant Elementary in Oskaloosa, a position she enjoyed for over 20 years. In addition to working in the school Mary was a dedicated “Pastor’s Wife”. She and Don pastored several small churches in the area and Mary worked right alongside Don ministering to people.

Mary was a talented musician and blessed many with her piano playing. She was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Oskaloosa. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, and reading. It was a well-known fact that you were always welcome at her home, however if you showed up during Jeopardy, the expectation was that you would watch and enjoy along with Mary. She did delight in having her family around and always looked forward to special occasions.

Her family includes her children, Kathleen Larsen (& Don Green) of Oskaloosa and Stephen (& Helen) Job of Lexington, Illinois; five grandchildren: Scott Larsen, Nicholas Larsen, Meghan (Larsen) Pommer, Daniel Job, and Jennifer Job; two great grandchildren, Evan Larsen and Annabeth Larsen; and a brother in law, David (& Sharon) Graham of University Park.

In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Amanda Sue Larsen; a son in law, Tom Larsen; and a sister, Ruth Lamb.

A private family graveside service and burial will be held in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with Reverend Rodney DeRonde officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Due to the restrictions put in place by the department of public health in an effort to protect the community from COVID 19 services at this time will be private.
The family will have a public celebration of life service at a later date and encourage everyone to attend.
Memorials may be made to the Fellowship Bible Church Building Fund.
