Martha Jane Gladwin, 85, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa. She was born August 20, 1932, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Gullitica Williams Clark.

Martha graduated from Ottumwa High School with the class of 1950.

Early on Martha was united in marriage to Albert Eugene Reed, he died in June of 1961. On August 22, 1965, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Gladwin, in Lancaster, Missouri. Robert died October 18, 2004.

Martha worked for many years at various care facilities in Oskaloosa. She retired as the activity director from Tower Park Nursing Home in Oskaloosa.

She enjoyed going to auctions, collecting and researching antiques. She also had a soft spot in her heart for animals and loved to watch the birds.

Her family includes her three children: Jean Bell of West Des Moines, Albert (& Peggy) Reed of Ankeny, and Jane Butler of Flower Mound, Texas; two grandchildren, Seth (& Paige) Bell and Emma Bell; a great granddaughter, Adison Bell.

In addition to both of her husbands, Martha was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Matilda Feaster; and four brothers, Harold Clark, Fred Clark, James Clark, and Thomas Clark.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 until service time at 11:00 Saturday morning.
Memorials may be made to Stephens Memorial Animal Shelter.
