Marilyn Cady, 84, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, November 24, 2018, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born August 27, 1934, in Coon Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Earl Francis and Helen Maxine Bowman McGuire.

Marilyn graduated from Coon Rapids High School with the class of 1953.

On December 22, 1953, Marilyn was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Cady at the Carroll United Methodist Church in Carroll, Iowa.

Marilyn worked for Banker’s Life Insurance for a few years and then went on to work for State Farm Insurance. She left State Farm and started working at the Credit Bureau in Oskaloosa. In 1981 she went to work for Mid-American Energy as a Service Representative. She retired from Mid-American Energy in 1996.

Marilyn was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Oskaloosa. She delighted in spending time with her family.

Her family includes her husband of over 64 years, Dick Cady of Oskaloosa; four children and their spouses: Linda and Mark Goodman of Rose Hill, Rick and Rhonda Cady of Oskaloosa, Sharon and John Aschinger of Oskaloosa, and JoAnn and Randy Plate of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren: Jamie (& Dustin) Gerard, Crystal Cady (& Cole Nilson), Amber (& Shannon) Baldock, Daniel (& Deanna) Goodman, Ashley (& Trent) Kerr, Mindy (& Jake) Griffin, Brenda Doty (& David Malloy), Chelsey (& Greg) Johnson, and Ben (& Amanda) Plate; eighteen great grandchildren: Logan, Brooke, and Peyton Baldock, Kadin and Addison Gerard, Lincoln Nilson, Kira Doty, Jaylynn and Tanner Kerr, Trevin and Saige Griffin, Aubrey and Hannah Plate, Charley and Drew Johnson, and Drake, Hayden, and Ally Goodman; a sister, Lois Jane Allen of Galva, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and many special cousins.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn sister; and a brother in law, Russell Allen.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Rodney DeRonde officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Monday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-7 Monday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Fellowship Bible Church in Oskaloosa.
