Iowa Speedway

NEWTON, IA – April 2, 2012 – The first race of the 2012 season is just a couple weeks away. Saturday, April 21, runners and sprinters will be converging on Iowa Speedway to take part in the ‘Where the Rubber Meets the Road’ 8K race and the ‘High Heels on High Banks’ 150 Yard Dash.

Volunteers are also needed to help ensure the morning goes smoothly.

“We have more than 300 participants signed up for the two races,” said Melissa Butler, race organizer and communications director of Progress Industries. “We have great support from people wanting to race, but we are still looking for volunteers who want to help with the registration, the timing and scoring, and the general operations of the event.”

The entire morning’s events are a fundraiser for the P.I. Foundation that supports Progress Industries, a non-profit organization that assists central Iowans with disabilities fulfill life-long goals, and the Iowa Speedway Foundation, which has surpassed over $250,000 of giving back to local based groups since its inception in 2007.

For $35 you may participate in the 8k, $20 for the dash or participate in both events for $45. This includes a great, long-sleeve event shirt; a challenging run; and lots of fun. Sign up on-line at www.active.com or visit www.iowaspeedway.com or www.progressindustries.org to download a copy of the registration form.
