Mahaska County Now Accepting Absentee Ballot Requests

Mahaska County, IA—August 27, 2024— The Mahaska County Auditor’s Office has officially begun accepting requests for absentee ballots for the upcoming elections. Residents can request their absentee ballots by calling the Auditor’s Office at 641-673-7148 or by visiting the office in person during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request is Tuesday, October 21, 2024, by 5:00 PM. The first day that the office will mail out absentee ballots is set for October 16, 2024. Voters need to be aware of these dates to ensure they can participate in the election even if they cannot vote in person on Election Day.

Absentee voting provides a convenient option for those who may be out of town, have health concerns, or prefer to avoid the crowds at polling stations. The Iowa Secretary of State’s website offers additional information about the absentee voting process, including eligibility requirements and detailed instructions on how to properly complete and submit your absentee ballot.

Mahaska County, like the rest of Iowa, is committed to ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to cast their vote. The Auditor’s Office encourages residents to make use of the absentee voting option if they anticipate any difficulties voting in person on Election Day.

Residents can contact the Mahaska County Auditor’s Office or visit the Iowa Secretary of State’s website for more information about absentee ballots and other voting-related inquiries.
