Mahaska CERT Team helps Marion County

Mahaska CERT Team August 2010 with Mary Furnalds

Mahaska County was called to assist Marion County Emergency Manager to move the Howe family. Three members of the Oskaloosa Fire Dept. that was off duty, Jamey Robinson, and a CERT Team member Jim Walker answered that call for help.

The rain has loosened the earth around their home to the point the floor had dropped at least 12″ and the house was moving. People from Vermeer, Pella Corp and Churches all came to move them to another location. All went well and they had all the items that needed moved taken to the storage building where they will be moving.

Thanks to all that were involved to make this low point in their lives an easier experience. It is great to see people helping others to bring a smile to those that are down in troubled times.
