Long-time William Penn University Board Members Retire

Oskaloosa, Iowa – After a combined 33 years of devoted service to William Penn University, Board of Trustees members Ken Van Gilst and alumnus Don Swim (’64) have retired.
Van Gilst served 18 dedicated years and was most recently serving on the Student Services and Enrollment Committee. In January of 2011, Van Gilst became the second official William Penn representative to travel to Rwanda as part of the exchange program between William Penn University and the Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo (INATEK) in Rwanda.
Swim worked in the Oskaloosa school district for 33 years prior to becoming an adjunct professor for William Penn. He gave 15 dutiful years to the Board of Trustees and at the time of retirement, Swim was on the Athletics Committee.
William Penn is grateful for the steadfast commitment these two Oskaloosa natives gave their fellow board members, friends of the William Penn community, administrators, faculty, staff and students of the Statesmen family.
