‘Winning is everything’!!! That is a saying that has been around forever. ‘Winning cures all’, is what they say. This is another old saying. There are times that you take those sayings to heart, like when you are in the midst of a long losing streak. Osky received what was so desperately needed, on Saturday, a win over the Albia Lady Dee’s 55-21.

The two previous weeks were literally something the Osky ladies would just as soon forget, as they lost to Pella Christian, Grinnell, Dallas Center Grimes and Newton, all in Little Hawkeye Conference action. Osky found themselves being their own worst enemy. They just couldn’t quit turning the ball over, struggled on defense and with recognizing where the shooters were. All this went along with ice cold shooting.

Saturday was just what the Indians had hoped and prayed for. They clicked on all cylinders and wreaked havoc in every aspect of the game, both on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Osky caused in upwards of thirty turnovers, taking full advantage of the majority of those for easy baskets. That, along with the sharp shooting of senior Taylor Richardson, who was 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, helped win the game.

Oskaloosa was led by Richardson with 14 pts., 4 asst., and 6 steals; Sophomore Alexis Westercamp with 14 pts., 6 rebs., and 3 steals; junior Paige Howard 12 pts.; senior Alena Renter with 2 pts., 6 rebs., and 4 steals; Junior Nicole Strasser 4 pts. and 4 rebs.; and senior Asia Laudermilch 4 pts., 3 rebs., 2 asst., and 7 steals.
Oskaloosa is now 3-16 on the season and will return to action Tuesday night at home, as it will be Senior Night against Little Hawkeye Conference foe Norwalk.
