Library Extends Offer To Fill Director Position

Oskaloosa Library

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Library Board met in special session on Wednesday at noon with only a single agenda item to accomplish, but its significance will have an impact on the future of the library.

William Ottens of Lawrence, Kansas was selected as the candidate to fill the vacancy left when Wanda Gardner resigned earlier this year. Ottens accepted the offer, and he will take over as Library Director starting September 10, 2012.

Otten will report directly to the Library Board of Trustees, and they will officially appoint Ottens once he indicated that he accepted the position. The offer would be his first as a director of a public library.

Ottens graduated from Emporia State University School of Library and Information Science where he received a Master of Library Science in December of 2010.
