Lee Alan Current, 50, of Pella died Tuesday, February 27, 2018, in Knoxville. He was born Wednesday, April 12, 1967, in Oskaloosa, the son of Marvin and Sheryl Briney Current.

Lee graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the Class of 1985. He was involved in the high school’s track team, band, jazz band and marching band.

Following school, Lee worked for a time at Cablevey Conveyors in Oskaloosa and later was loyal to Culligan in Pella for 27 years.

In 1987, Lee was united in marriage to Tamera Beyer in Eddyville. To this union two children were born, Alex and Megan.

Lee had a great love of music and playing saxophone. He played in several bands over the years and was currently a member of the Rich Webster Band. Lee loved bicycle racing and was a member of the Pella Bike Racing team. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, camping, boating and just being outdoors. He was also a wine connoisseur and enjoyed making home brews with friends.

Lee cared deeply for all the people in his life and cherished time with his family. He poured his heart and soul into everything and everyone he cared about. He had a strong work ethic and an undeniable passion for life.

He is survived by his son, Alex Current of Pleasant Hill; his daughter, Megan (& Kyle) Newendorp of Richmond, California; his stepmom, Joyce Current of Oskaloosa; two sisters: his twin Leanne Bartlow of Oskaloosa and Wendy (& Jeff) Bracy of New Sharon; a brother, Marc (& Sherry) Current of Barnes City; a granddaughter, Madison Van Zee; a special friend, Marla Beasing-Hampe of Urbandale; two step brothers: Don (& Winnie) Van Mersbergen of Oskaloosa and Ray (& Julie) Van Mersbergen of Fort White, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 9, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in the Third Reformed Church in Pella with Reverend Keith Korver officiating.
Burial will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery just east of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday after 12 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present from 5-8 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Oskaloosa High School Music Department.
