‘Ladies Night Out’ Benefits the 2011 Relay For Life

'Ladies Night Out' was a successful night of fund raising for Relay for Life

The 2011 Relay for Life held a fundraiser Friday night, March 25th at the Kinsmen’s Keep located at 302 N. A St in Oskaloosa.

One of the main events of the evening was a purse auction, with many of them being donated by individuals.

The food was catered by Grate Expectations catering of Oskaloosa, with appetizers being elegantly delivered around the room for those browsing the many booths of the 21 vendors on hand.

CB Liquor and Tassel Ridge Winery were present with many of their fine wines for wine tasting, if you chose to. There was a Style show with fashion pointers from different clothing businesses in town. They had several fashion make overs with before and after photo’s, that kept the 3 represented salons and 9 stylists busy during the night. The participants for the make overs had their names drawn from a hat, and were whisked away, then returned by 9:00 for the reveal.

Debbie Sedrel of Debbie’s Merle Norman said it was an great event and was very happy with the turnout.

“The whole basis of the event is to raise money for Relay for Life” said Glenda Booy. They sold tickets to the event, and that was the primary form of fund raising for the group.

If someone would like to participate in the Relay for Life, all they need to do is to find a team to join by contacting Julie Stone who is employed by Valley Bank in Oskaloosa.

The Relay will take place during the overnight of July 8 and 9th, with walking beginning at 6 p.m. July 8th and continuing until 6 a.m. Saturday July 9th, 2011 on the square in Oskaloosa.
