Judith Mausser, 57, of Knoxville, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at the Westridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Knoxville.
Judith was born February 13, 1956, at Summit, New Jersey, the daughter of Louis and Carmella Albertino Martinelli. She graduated from Summit High School with the class of 1974. On November 19, 1983, she was united in marriage to Frank Cortez. To this union five children were born. Frank and Judith later divorced. In May of 1988, the family moved to Knoxville, Iowa. On July 15, 1994, she was united in marriage to Greg Mausser in Knoxville. In 1989, Judith went to work as a manager at Jim’s Super Value in Knoxville. She was employed there until 2001, when she went to work for Wal-Mart in Knoxville. In 2012, she started working for Hilltop Assisted Living in Pella, and retired from there earlier this year due to ill health.
Family was the center of Judith’s life, she delighted in being a mom and grandma. She enjoyed bowling, crafting, going to movies and visiting with her friends. She was an active member of Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville where she enjoyed attending women’s Bible studies.
Her family includes her husband Greg Mausser of Knoxville; six children, Frank (& Beth) Cortez of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Judy (& Eric) Hines of University Park, Christina Cortez of Knoxville, Nick (& Chelsey) Cortez of Fort Hood, Texas, Matt (& Kailin) Mausser of Fort Stewart, Georgia, and Anthony (& Abbie) Cortez of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren, Kyria, Quenten, Anthony, Myah, Avah, Dominic, Brody, Ainsley, and Gia; three brothers, Louis (& Marie) Martinelli of Red Bank, New Jersey, Ralph (& Ellen) Martinelli of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, and Donald (& Elaine) Martinelli of West Orange, New Jersey; and a sister, Mary Ann (& Don) Voorhees of Easton, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in the Celebrate Community Church in Knoxville, with Pastor Andrew Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Knoxville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 Wednesday morning at the Celebrate Community Church and continue until service time at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Judith Mausser memorial fund.
