James Lang, 79, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, February 9, 2017, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born July 31, 1937, in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, the son of John and Leona Neuber Lang.
Jim attended school in Vaders. He graduated High School with the class of 1955. Following high school Jim served in the United States Air Force.
Following his discharge, Jim went to work running heavy equipment for various construction companies. He later became the Apprenticeship and Training Coordinator for Operating Engineers Local 234. He retired from there in the mid 1990’s.
On April 19, 1997, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Hibler in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jim enjoyed working in his yard.
His family includes his wife of nearly 20 years, Phyllis Lang of Oskaloosa; four stepchildren: Chris (& Taso) Boosalis of Mt. Pleasant, Leo (& Carol) Kirk of Des Moines, Lori (& Bobby) McGlothlen of Oskaloosa and David Kirk of Mt. Pleasant; six step grandchildren; and five step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Lang and Ronald Lang; and a sister, Alice Meyers.
As was James’ wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
