Irene Marie (Sytsma) Brown, age 83, of Fremont, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2010, at the Good Samitan Health and Rehabilitation Center in Ottumwa. She was born to Herman and Silvia (Miller) Sytsma on December 11, 1927. She graduated from Albia High School, class of 1944.
She married Alvia (Lee) on June 9, 1946 in Albia. She was a homemaker throughout her life. She was Baptist, and she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and playing the accordion. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Irene is survived by her husband, Alvia of Fremont; children: Ron (Pat) Brown of Knoxville, Jim (Sharon) Brown of Ottumwa, and Steve (Dorinda) Brown of Omaha, NE, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Leo Sytsma.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia with Dan Reid officiating. Visitation with the family present will also be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow after the funeral luncheon in the Iconium Cemetery.
