Dean Conger, 83 of Ollie, died Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Sigourney Care Center. Howard Dean Conger was born in Ollie, Iowa on January 31, 1934 the son of Woodrow and Wanda Van Ordall Conger.

While attending Ollie High School he won several medals in Track and Field.

Over the years Dean worked at Falco in Fairfield and the Richland Locker. His love for animals eventually led him to starting his own business, the North Star Fur Farm. Dean bought and sold wild fur in addition to raising mink, ferrets, skunk, fox, coon hounds and horses.

Dean loved the outdoor life style and never missed an opportunity to run his coon hounds or search for artifacts.

He is survived by two daughters: Phyllis (& Donnie) Turner of Eldon, MO and Terry (& Kirby) Vorhies of Santa Maria, CA; two sons: Mike Conger of Martinsburg and Donald (& Marla) Conger of Muscatine; five sisters: Arlene Shy of Dixon, MO, Juanita Jones of Martinsburg, Joyce Kopsieker of Ollie, Judy (& Robert) Ellis of Ollie and Carolyn Skinner of Hedrick; four brothers: Jim (& Mary Lou) Conger of Ollie, Robert Conger of Packwood, Larry (& Janet) Conger of Packwood and Dale (& Kathy) Conger of Martinsburg; five sisters-in-law: Marilyn Conger of Sigourney, Colleen Conger of Pekin, Linda Conger of Ollie and Ruthie Conger of Ollie. Dean also leaves behind ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Conger; two infant sisters, Linda and Darlene Conger; five brothers: Raymond, Paul, Ralph, Edward and Delbert Conger; four brothers-in-law: Bill Shy, Eugene Jones, John Kopsieker and Rick Skinner.

As was his wishes his body is to be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be in the Van Orsdall Cemetery near Ollie.
