Hora Lifts NM Past HLV

NEW SHARON – Basketballs were sailing though the air Tuesday as North Mahaska hosted HLV in a South Iowa Cedar league contest. North Mahaska’s Gabe Hora outdueled Peyton Roth of HLV 36-32 to lead the host Warhawks to a 95-56 victory.

Hora ripped the nets for 10 3-pointers as both teams combined for 28 long balls. He led three Warhawks in double figures with two players recording a double-double. Asher DeBoef scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while Nolan Andersen chipped in 14 points with 10 rebounds.

Hora, who is known for his long shots, broke his own school record.

“Gabe shot the ball really well,” said NM coach Seth Streebin. He broke his own school record of nine threes by making 10 last night.

“Asher had what seemed like a billion rebounds. Just a good overall win. Good to show up, play well, and get Gabe back in a groove.”

Also scoring well for the Warhawks were Nate Sampson with eight, Brayden Veiseth with six and Jacob Moore with five. Veiseth recorded six rebounds and Jack Kelderman had five and two steals.

Roth powered the Warriors with his point explosion and led HLV with four steals. Aiden Van Waus chipped in eight points.

“The Roth kid played really well,” said Streebin. “He is a nice player. He shot the ball well and just had himself a really nice game.”

North Mahaska (11-4, 9-3) will have a key game Friday at Lynnville-Sully Friday.
