Holiday Host Family Opportunities

William Penn University

With the holiday season upon us, William Penn students are finalizing their winter break plans. Food services and all campus dormitories will be closed from December 16th at noon until January 7, 2012. A number of international students are often not able to travel home for the holiday break and are left to figure out where they can stay for the three week vacation.

Graduate Assistant for International Programs Karolyn Wojtowicz is working to arrange a local host family option for students who can’t make it home for the holidays. Each year there are multiple students without a place to stay over break. If you are interested in being a host family for part or all of the William Penn winter break, please contact Karolyn by December 9th. A preliminary questionnaire for both the student and host family will be completed to determine compatibility.

If you’re not available to host a student this winter but might be interested in the future, William Penn will have more opportunities as a new group of international students will arrive at William Penn before the 2012 fall term. These students would greatly benefit from meeting a community member and being introduced to the Oskaloosa area and culture before beginning classes.

If you’re able to host a student between December 16, 2011 and January 7, 2012 or would like more information about upcoming host family opportunities, please contact Karolyn Wojtowicz at 641-673-1294 or wojtowiczk@wmpenn.edu.
