GRINNELL’S LAURA KRULL NAMED TO ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT AT-LARGE FIRST TEAM
GRINNELL, Iowa –Grinnell College women’s tennis player Laura Krull ’13 (New Braunfels, Texas/Keystone National) has been named to the District 8 NCAA Division III Academic All-District At-Large first team.
The At-Large category includes the following sports: women’s bowling, women’s crew, men’s and women’s fencing, women’s field hockey, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s gymnastics, men’s and women’s ice hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s rifle, men’s and women’s skiing, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s volleyball, men’s and women’s water polo and men’s wrestling.
The award is presented by Capital One and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). By being named to the first team, Krull is eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Krull, a sociology major, recently made history by becoming the first Pioneer woman to earn a spot in the NCAA D-III National Tennis Championships. That event is slated for next week in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Last fall, Krull became the first-ever Grinnell woman to win the USTA/ITA Regional title. By winning, she advanced to the National Tourney where she placed sixth.
Krull is 18-4 in singles play this season.
