GRINNELL’S BRUS QUALIFIES FOR 100 BACKSTROKE FINAL AT NCAA D-III NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Grinnell College’s Michael Brus ’14 earned a spot in the final of the 100-yard backstroke and set a school record Friday at the NCAA Division III National Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Brus swam Friday’s preliminary in 49.40, the eighth-fastest time, assuring him All-America status in the event. That clocking beat his previous school record of 50.20, set earlier this season.
The fastest qualifier for Friday night’s final was Robert Barry of Denison, who set an NCAA D-III record with a preliminary time of 47.77.
On Thursday, Brus earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 freestyle.
