GRINNELL COLLEGE ANNOUNCES 2013 HONOR G AWARDS FOR MALE ATHLETES

GRINNELL, Iowa – A half-dozen male senior student-athletes were honored at the 2013 Grinnell College Honor G Banquet Saturday at Herrick Chapel.

Erik Figge ’13 and Pun Winichakul ‘13 received the David Theophilus ’51 Award for outstanding athletes in more than one sport. Figge, who runs cross country and track, won the award for individual sports and Winichakul, a member of the soccer and swimming teams, was honored for team sports.

Emanuel Spooner ’13 and Griffin Lentsch ’13 were winners of the Morgan Taylor ’26 Award for outstanding athlete in a single sport. Spooner, a swimmer, won it for an individual sport and Lentsch, who plays basketball but also competes in track and field, was honored for a team sport.

Colin Johnson ’13 won the Honor G Scholastic Award, while Figge and Nate Kakazu ’13 claimed the George B. Critchett ’25 Service Award. Johnson is a tennis player, while Kakazu runs cross country and track.
