Gary “Renegade” Playle, 66 of New Sharon passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2018 at Montezuma Specialty Care. Gary Marvin Playle, the son of Everett Dow and Anna Mae (Kirkpatrick) Playle, was born on June 19, 1951 in Montezuma, Iowa.

Gary was a 1969 graduate of Montezuma High School. Following high school, Gary enlisted with the United States Army serving his country for two years.

Gary was married to Lynn Mitchell. To this union one son was born, Jason. They later divorced. Gary was married to Charlotte Hill Lemke on August 21, 2015 at Diamond Lake near Montezuma.

Gary worked 30 plus years driving truck for Manatts, retiring in 2015 due to health concerns.

Gary enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, camping and the outdoors. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed attended the Barnes City Figure 8 races.

Gary is survived by his wife, Charlotte Playle of New Sharon; his son, Jason Playle of Oskaloosa; two step children, Robert (& Holly) Lemke of Marengo and Elizabeth Nevett of Marshalltown; his siblings and spouses: Roxanne Playle of Marshalltown, Linda (& Raymond) Ozbun of State Center, Rodney (& Sheryl) Playle of New Sharon, Chuck (& Robert) Playle of New Sharon, Betty (& Arvene) Bradley of Ottumwa, Richard Lemke of Montezuma, Bruce Lemke of Oskaloosa, Ruth (& Leland) Laverman of Sully, and Edith Hefley of Montezuma; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Dow and Mae Playle; a step father, Walter Lemke; and two sisters, Lisa Playle and Connie Lemke.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon and as a family request, please wear casual clothes.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
A private burial will be held in the West Liberty Cemetery near Montezuma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the family’s name.

Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
