Fundraiser at Community 1st Helps a Local Youth

A fund raiser for Nicole Paige Redlich was held on March 18th, starting at 10:30 a.m. and running until the food ran out.

Redlich has been at Blank’s Children’s Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit since Friday, March 4th, 2011 where she is battling Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system.

Crystal Vandonselaar, a member of the Oskaloosa Community First Credit Union staff was on hand to serve hot dogs, chips and a drink for a free will donation to benefit Nicole and her family during this time. For those at Community First, this hit home as Nicole’s mother Lana works at the bank as a teller.

The hotdogs and buns were donated by Fareway, while the chips and drinks were donated by others wanting to help out as well.
