Fremont Minor Charged With Filing A False Report

On Thursday, October is”, 2018, the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from a 13-year-old male juvenile at 116 East Main Street in Fremont. This juvenile reported that
he had been sexually abused by a 23-year-old female, at this residence, approximately 3 weeks prior.

As part of the investigation into this report, Sheriff’s Officials re-interviewed this juvenile on Monday, October 22nd

. During this interview, the juvenile admitted that he had fabricated the entire story regarding this assault.

As a result of the investigation into this matter, the juvenile has been charged with Filing a false report of an indictable offense to a law enforcement agency. This charge is a serious
misdemeanor and was filed with the Mahaska County Juvenile Court Services Office.

***As a reminder, a criminal charge is merely an accusation and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
