Four Statesmen Receive Accolades from Heart

Oskaloosa–A quartet of William Penn women’s bowlers were honored for excellence throughout the year as the all-Heart of America Athletic Conference teams were announced last weekend.

WPU claimed four of the 10 all-conference laurels, including three on the first team as Gabi Evans (Sr., West Liberty, Iowa, Psychology and Sociology), Sammantha Meyers (Jr., Rockford, Ill., Elementary Education), and Madison Ross (Sr., Charles City, Iowa, Exercise Science) were all chosen for the five-person top squad.

Caitlin Radliff (Jr., Belleville, Ill., Software Engineering) was also selected as one of five individuals for the second team.

Evans is now a five-time all-Heart honoree, including collecting her second nod on the top team. Radliff’s award is her third (second time on second team), while Ross is now a two-time recipient who is on the first team for the first time. Meyers is an all-Heart honoree for the first time.

The foursome guided William Penn to a strong regular season, which was headlined by winning the Las Vegas Collegiate Shoot-Out and the NAIA Weekend #1. Most recently, the Statesmen won the Heart Championship last Saturday and Sunday.

Evans has been pacing the navy and gold with a 192.4 average over the span of 56 games. She has been in the top 10 three times, the top 25 an addition two times, and rolled the program’s first-ever perfect 300 game.

Entering USBC Sectionals, Meyers currently owns a 184.6 pin average (47 games) with a high of 245. She tallied one top-10 showing this year.

Ross is averaging 181.6 pins in 44 games this season, including a high game of 247. The senior has thrice finished in the top 25.

Radliff, who had a high game of 265, currently averages 181.4 pins per round (39 games). The junior has placed inside the top 10 on two occasions.

Kinsey Miller of Baker was named Heart Player of the Year, while Rachel Moore of Culver-Stockton earned the Newcomer of the Year award. Culver-Stockton’s Derek Sapp was also tabbed as Coach of the Year by his peers.
