FORMER NEBRASKA MAN SENTENCED TO 96 MONTHS OF IMPRISONMENT FOR THREATS TO THE PRESIDENT AND FEDERAL BUILDINGS
DAVENPORT, IA – Following his earlier guilty plea on February 25, 2011, Terrence Deshawn Dunn, age 36, formerly of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced on May 24, 2011, to 60 months of imprisonment for one count of threats against the President, and 96 months of imprisonment for one count of making a threat to unlawfully damage and destroy a building by means of an explosive, with the sentences to run concurrently, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Judge James E. Gritzner also ordered Dunn to serve a term of 3 years of supervised release following his incarceration, and pay $200 to the Crime Victims Fund.
On February 5, 2010, the United States Secret Service received from the FBI a letter written by Terrence Deshawn Dunn. In relevant part, the letter read:
My name is T.D.D. aka Hitman and I am part of an underground organization that cause terrorism in the United State. . . . the UGO are plotting to plan more attack on Government agency. . . . the UGO’s are about to attack two more of you federal building and plan to go after the President of the United State. On Nov 11, 2009 two federal Building will Be Blown completely up . . . I have set up the master plan to have Barack Obama killed and this plan is fool proof. . . . you don’t have a cue which federal Building are about to get hit only I know.
The envelope was addressed to “Federal Bureau of Investigation, 935 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington D.C. 20535.” The return address was “Terrence Deshawn Dunn . . . Iowa Medical and Classification Center, 2700 Coral Ridge Ave., Coralville, Iowa 52841,” which is the location of the Oakdale Correctional Facility where Dunn was incarcerated. The envelope was postmarked November 3, 2009.
Dunn was interviewed by the Secret Service on February 10, 2010. He admitted writing the letter.
