Eric Hartman to give convocation address at Central College

PELLA — Speaker Eric Hartman will be the featured presenter at the second Intersections convocation of the semester on Thursday, Oct. 6. The lecture will take place at 11 a.m. in Central College’s Douwstra Auditorium.

Hosted by the Intersections program — a required first-year seminar — Hartman will give a presentation titled “Everyday Justice.” Since earning his Ph.D. in public and international affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, he has presented on the topic of global citizenship through global service-learning at colleges around the country. He has also researched and written extensively on the topic.

Hartman’s work focuses on social justice. While serving as executive director of the nonprofit organization Amizade Global Service Learning, he helped connect thousands of individuals with local community development initiatives. He has continued to work and research in Africa, South America and elsewhere to inspire respect for common human dignity.
